The GRE or Graduate Record Examination is one of the popular standardized tests. The exam is conducted & administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The GRE evaluates algebra, arithmetic, data analysis, geometry, and college-level vocabulary knowledge. More importantly, it measures critical thinking, written material analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
The GRE is necessary for admission to top universities worldwide for MS programs, particularly in the USA, Canada, and other English-speaking countries. Registration can be done from home or at a test center. Some Indian institutes also accept GRE scores for master’s programs.
The GRE syllabus includes Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Scores for the verbal and quantitative sections range from 130 to 170. The exam duration, starting September 22, 2023, is approximately 1 hour and 58 minutes. Top universities generally require GRE scores of 150 to 160 in the verbal and quantitative sections. GRE Exam Important Dates
The GRE is offered on multiple dates throughout 2024 in India, allowing candidates flexibility. It is advisable to choose a GRE date at least two to three months before your earliest university application deadline. For example, if your application deadline is in November, select a test date in August or September. This timeline provides an opportunity to retake the GRE in October if necessary.
To schedule the GRE, create an account on the ETS website. There are over 22 GRE exam centers across more than 14 cities in India. GRE test dates up to November 2024 have already been announced, with availability in 19 test centers in the top 11 locations. Each city typically offers 15 to 18 registration dates per month.

What is the GRE Exam?

GRE Score
