Introduction

The National Testing Agency has released the JEE main exam pattern 2024 through the official information bulletin. There are three papers for JEE Main – Paper 1, paper 2A, and paper 2B. The aspirants need to make themselves aware of the JEE main exam pattern question blueprint. The NTA has also released official information related to the marking scheme and tiebreakers.

The JEE Main exam 2024 was conducted in two phases. The JEE main session 1 was scheduled between 24th January to 1st February 2024. The dates for the second session of the JEE main were between 01st April 2024 to 15th April 2024. The students are now waiting for the results, which will be released on the official website of NTA.

The National Testing Agency has declared the JEE Main exam pattern for the year 2024. The JEE main 2024 exam pattern will be divided paper-wise pattern. Every paper will have a different exam pattern.

JEE Main Exam Pattern 2024 for Paper 2A (BArch)

The National Testing Agency has said that Mathematics (Part I) and Aptitude Test (Part II) will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. Drawing Test (Part-III) in Pen and Paper Based (offline) mode, to be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size.

Merit List and Tie-Breaking Rules for JEE Main Exam Pattern Paper 1

Converting the raw scores in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as the total score, into NTA scores. The overall ranking will be determined by combining the NTA scores from all shifts across all days.

In case of a tie between candidates with equal total NTA scores in Paper 1: BE/BTech, the tiebreaker will be determined as follows, in descending order:

  1. Higher NTA score in Mathematics.
  2. Higher NTA score in Physics.
  3. Higher NTA score in Chemistry.
  4. Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers and a higher proportion of attempted correct answers in all subjects.
  5. Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers and a higher proportion of attempted correct answers in Mathematics.
  6. Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers and a higher proportion of attempted correct answers in Physics.
  7. Candidate with a lower proportion of attempted incorrect answers and a higher proportion of attempted correct answers in Chemistry.
  8. Older candidate.
  9. Application number in ascending order.

The raw scores in Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Planning Based Test, along with the total score, will be converted into NTA Scores. The overall ranking will be determined by combining the NTA Scores from all shifts and days.

In case of a tie between candidates with the same Total NTA scores in BPlanning, the following steps will be taken to resolve it:

  1. First, the NTA score in Mathematics will be considered.
  2. Then, the NTA score in the Aptitude Test will be taken into account.
  3. Next, the NTA score in Planning-Based Questions will be reviewed.
  4. After that, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers and more correct answers across all subjects will be given priority.
  5. Subsequently, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers and more correct answers in Mathematics (Part I) will be given preference.
  6. Following that, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers and more correct answers in the Aptitude Test (Part II) will be prioritized.
  7. Then, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers and more correct answers in Planning Based Questions (Part III) will be considered.
  8. If the tie persists, the older candidate will be given precedence.
  9. Finally, the Application Number will be used in ascending order to determine priority.
