Introduction
The JEE Main Counselling process is a very important step in college selection. After the NTA releases the final cut-off, the qualifying students can sit in the counselling rounds by JoSAA. It offers admission into the top engineering institutes in India. Students must make a note of certain eligible documents before sitting in the seat allocation round.
The JEE Main Counselling 2024 is expected to start from 10th June 2024. Further rounds of counselling will take place after the announcement of the results. Students must be familiar with the counselling rounds organised by the JoSAA. Seats are assigned to the students based on their obtained rank and college preferences.

What is the JEE Main Counselling Process?
The JEE Main Counselling Process is an essential step for students who want to get into engineering colleges in India. After passing the JEE Main exam, candidates need to register online at the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) website and pick their preferred colleges and courses.
Seats are then assigned based on the candidate’s rank and their choices. JoSAA will run several rounds of seat allocation, and candidates will get a letter that tells them which college and course they have been placed in. After this, students must go to the college they’ve been assigned to finalize their admission by paying fees and providing the required documents.
If there are still open seats, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will manage further rounds of counselling for specific regions and reserved categories. The counselling fee is ₹35,000 for general category students and ₹15,000 for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and PwD candidates.
JEE Main Counselling Dates 2024
The official dates for the JEE Main Counselling 2024 have not been released by the NTA yet. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) oversees the seat allocation process for 118 participating institutes. If you qualify for the JEE Main 2024 exam, you’ll be invited to participate in the JoSAA counselling process.

JoSAA Counselling Registration
- Date: The JoSAA counselling registration is expected to begin on June 10, 2024 (tentatively).
- Eligibility: If you have qualified in the JEE Main 2024 exam, you will be invited to participate in the JoSAA counselling process.
- Online Registration: Visit the official JoSAA website (link will be provided) and register using your JEE Main roll number. Provide other necessary personal information during the registration process.
- Choice Filling: After registration, you’ll have the opportunity to fill in your preferred choices of academic programs (courses and institutes).
CSAB Counselling
- Date: CSAB Counselling 2024 is likely to be held in July 2024.
- Process: If seats remain unfilled after the sixth round of JoSAA counselling, the remaining seats are filled through CSAB counselling conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board.
- Supernumerary Seats: Institutes like NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat reserve supernumerary seats for candidates from Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. For this, CSAB Supernumerary counselling is held and typically takes a single round to complete the process.
- Reserved Categories from North Eastern States and Union Territories: If you belong to reserved categories from North Eastern States and Union Territories, you need to participate in CSAB NEUT counselling.
