The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the JEE Main Exam twice a year now. The JEE Main exam is a leading engineering entrance examination in India. What is the JEE Main Exam?

JEE Main Exam 2024 Latest Updates

  • 25th April 2024: NTA released the results for the JEE Main Session 02 exams.

JEE Main Registration Form 2024

The JEE Main 2024 registration process is specially designed for candidates aspiring to participate in either of the two sessions of the examination. For Session 1, scheduled between January 24 and February 1, 2024, candidates had to submit their application forms online between November 1, 2023, to November 30, 2023, with the deadline for fee payment extended until 11:50 P.M. on November 30.

For JEE Main Exam Session 2, which took place from April 1 to April 15, 2024, the application period opened on February 2, 2024, and closed on March 2, 2024, with the same time allowance for the final fee transactions.
Both sessions required candidates to ensure their applications and fee payments are completed by the deadlines to avoid disqualification. Further details on the examination city will be announced well ahead of the exams.

JEE Main Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The JEE Main 2024 is an important exam for students aspiring to pursue engineering and architecture at India’s premier colleges. But before that, you need to be eligible on certain parameters. Here are some of the JEE main exam eligibility criteria:

  1. Nationality: The exam is open to Indian citizens, foreign nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs).
  2. Attempts: Students can attempt JEE Main a maximum of three consecutive times. Since the exam is held twice a year, a candidate can appear for a total of six attempts.
  3. Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have passed the final examination of the 10+2 exam or its equivalent, conducted by any recognized Central/State Board. The students must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with English as compulsory subjects.
  4. Year of Appearance: Candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2022, 2023, or those appearing in 2024 are eligible. 
  5. Minimum Marks: General category candidates must secure 75% marks in Class 12, and 65% for SC and ST categories.

JEE Main 2024 Admit Card

The JEE Main 2024 Admit Card is an important document for candidates appearing for the exam. The National Testing Agency released the admit cards for the JEE Main 2024 Session 1 and extended the correction window for the Session.

The NTA released the admit cards for the JEE Main 03 days before the examination date. This gives room for correction of discrepancies (if any). For JEE main session 1, NTA released the admit card on 21st January 2024. For the second session of the JEE Main exam, NTA released the admit cards on 29th March 2024.
The admit card contains important details such as the exam center address, reporting time, and important exam instructions. Candidates were required to carry a printout of their admit card along with a photo ID on the examination day.

JEE Main Exam 2024 Counseling

The JEE Main Exam 2024 Counselling is an important process for students who have qualified for the JEE Main Exam. It is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and involves several steps, such as:

  1. Registration: Candidates need to register online for the counseling process.
  2. Choice Filling: Candidates select their preferred institutes and courses.
  3. Choice Locking: After finalizing their choices, candidates need to lock them.
  4. Mock Allotment: JoSAA conducts two rounds of mock seat allotment to help students understand the process.
  5. Seat Allotment: Based on the choices made and the candidate’s rank, seats are allocated.
  6. Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee: After the seat is allocated, candidates need to pay the seat acceptance fee.
  7. Reporting to Assigned College: Finally, candidates need to report to the assigned college with all necessary documents.
If seats aren’t filled up after the sixth round, then the remaining seats are filled through CSAB counselling which is conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board. The counseling process usually takes over 40-50 days to complete.
